Lady Gaga's dog walker was shot four times in the chest by two men on Wednesday night in Los Angeles, the Daily Mail reports. The men stole two of the star's three French bulldogs.

"Ryan Fischer, 30, had been walking Gaga's beloved dogs Koji, Miss Asia and Gustavo, in West Hollywood at around 10pm yesterday night when he was shot outside of his home on Sierra Bonita Avenue," the DM reports.

TMZ reports that "Gaga is offering $500,000 for the return of her dogs, no questions asked."

Fischer was barely breathing when the police arrived. He was brought to a hospital and is in "grave" condition, officials said. He had been caring for the dogs while Lady Gaga is in Italy.

The suspects, the DM adds, are "two black males, who were wearing baseball caps" who fled the scene northbound on Sierra Bonita Avenue in a white BMW, police said.

It's currently unclear whether Gaga's dogs were specifically targeted.

TMZ doesn't confirm there were two men, and describe the crime this way. "The dog walker had three of Gaga's Bull Dogs out in Hollywood just before 10 PM when one gunman -- and possibly more -- came upon him. We don't know what was said, but the dog walker was shot and the gunman made off with 2 of the dogs."

Initially there was some question if 2 or 3 dogs were being walked. "There are reports there were only 2 Bull Dogs being walked with one taken and one escaped that was later found, but our law enforcement sources tell us 3 dogs were being walked and 2 were taken by the gunman," writes TMZ. "We're told the 3rd dog had run away but was later recovered."

But in her ransom message and in a tweet, Lady Gaga acknowledges two dogs are missing.

TMZ was told "anyone who has the dogs can use this email -- [email protected] -- to retrieve the reward."

Fischer is expected to fully recover.
