Where to Go in 2015: Peru

Matthew Wexler READ TIME: 3 MIN.

Often the journey is as important as the destination. When it launched in 2011, Brand g Vacations wanted to reconceive the gay travel experience. The company uses the power of travel to not only explore the most authentic destinations in the world, but also offer community-building experiences that bridge the culture gap.

"It's our goal to continue to offer unique and lesser-traveled corners of the globe to our guests," says Managing Director Jeff Gundvaldson. "We have a real passion for gay group travel and especially for the types of more intimate, meaningful trips that Brand g is becoming known for. What really makes us unique is our focus on destinations and smaller ships, which translates to a more intimate personal experience for our travelers."

Three separate departure dates in 2015 will offer the ultimate Peruvian adventure: an 11-day excursion that includes an Amazon River cruise and comprehensive Machu Picchu experience.

Head South
The adventure begins in Lima, where Brand g has partnered with Plural Peru, a local LGBT rights organization. Guests will have an opportunity to interact with the organization's Managing Director Antonio Capurro to learn more about LGBT life in Peru, along with a guided nightlife tour of this city's hotspots.

Waterway Wonders
The four-day cruise aboard the Delfin II offers intimate luxury at its best as it navigates the waters of the Dorado River. Other highlights include visits to Caro Curahuayte Lagoon and the Urbamba Valley.

Lost and Found
Bring your oxygen. Machu Picchu ascends to nearly 8,000 feet above sea level, but once you arrive, a local expert will guide you through the citadel and Temple of Three Windows that comprise this Lost City of the Incas.
