Mary Jane Minkin, MD, clinical professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the Yale University School of Medicine is proud to announce the launch of MadameOvary.com offering women, and young providers like med students, residents, and those freshly out of training a greater understanding of menopause.

"I truly hope that this website will be of use to all of its readers. Women want to understand the changes that our bodies and our lives undergo as we mature through our reproductive and post-reproductive years," says Minkin. "To my sensibilities, an effective OB/GYN should be a woman's health physician, rather than exclusively a reproductive specialist. Female health encompasses all of our body's organ systems, and MadameOvary.com will serve as an integrative appreciation of how these systems interconnect and evolve."

MadameOvary.com aims to educate both women and the physicians learning how to best care for them. A primary focus of the site will be 'MadameOvary.com videos,' medium-length discussions led by Dr. Minkin focusing in on single topics. Current video topics include menopause and cancer, each discussed in two segments, and will soon be expanding to a variety of other women's health issues.

Dr. Minkin provides links to companion content, in the form of excerpts from her published guides, pdf copies of academic papers, and a list of important subject matter references. Additionally, found in the 'Media' category, there are several (video and audio) clips covering a wide range of related content, presented in both structured and free-flowing formats.

The MadameOvary.com Blog section is co-written and researched with her husband, MIT-educated mathematician, Steve Pincus, and centers around daily discussions over the last 30-years on the evolution of medicine and health care within our society.

"It's my most sincere hope that this website will provide a clearer understanding of the intricacies of midlife women's health and inspire physicians to act on improving the health care system in ways both large and small," adds Minkin.
