Ian Maloney READ TIME: 2 MIN.

The excitement for this year's Florida AIDS Walk has been building since January when organizers of the event announced that this year DNCE, and front man Joe Jonas will perform after the annual fundraiser walk. Well, the time is nigh; get stretched out for the walk and get ready to dance because on Sunday, March 19 the festivities get kicked off on the shores of Fort Lauderdale.

Registration opens at 8 a.m. at South Beach Park on Fort Lauderdale Beach (just north of the B Ocean, formerly the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort). At 9:30 a.m. there will be pre-walk ceremony with Celebrity Ambassador Lamman Rucker rom the hit show Greenleaf on the OWN network.

Miami/Fort Lauderdale Based, Chart topping, award winning DJ/Producer/remixer, Alex Ferbeyre, returns for his fourth year as the Official Florida Aids Walk and Music Festival DJ/Opening Act. Joining Ferbeyre to get the party started will be Jody Hill and the Deep Fried Funk Band, who will be the opening band. DNCE will headline the entertainment and have the crowd on their feet.

Each year, thousands of participants take to the street on the beach in Fort Lauderdale for the 5K race that raises money for AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF). All of the money raised stays here in Florida and is used to provide services for and to help support those living with HIV/AIDS. Each participant gets donations and agrees to pay a registration fee of $25.

Usually, participants form teams and each team has a captain who organizes the members and keeps track of donations. Every team has a page on the organization's website where member info is kept along with a tally of the teams donations. The team captain maintains the web page and motivates team members to get more donations.

There are different gifts that are given to participants. Everyone receives an official T shirt however the organization rewards those who raise certain amounts of money. Also, the biggest team and the team that raise the most money will get a 10 x 10 tent to use during the event and they will receive VIP service for check in the day of the walk.
