Non-binary DJ and actor Kath Ebbs took to Instagram to say they were "dumped" by former partner JoJo Siwa at the afterparty for the just-concluded 24th season of the UK's version of "Celebrity Big Brother." During the run of the show, Siwa declared herself no longer to be a lesbian, and got close to housemate and "Love Island" alum Chris Hughes.

But Siwa and Hughes insist they are just friends – although very close friends and "soulmates."

Things between Siwa and Hughes "started getting more intense on camera" as the show progressed, Vulture reported.

"Siwa and Hughes were caught cuddling during their time on the show, causing fans to wonder if their relationship was only platonic," the outlet recapped. (Story is behind a paywall.)

Ebbs took to Instagram with a video in which they spilled the details of their feelings, saying they were "in a state of shock" after having seen the relationship developing between Siwa and Hughes along with other viewers of the reality show.

Us Magazine recounted that in the video, Ebbs "said they spent two weeks 'sitting back, watching certain things unfold' – seemingly referring to Siwa's time on 'Celebrity Big Brother: UK' – and that it's been tough 'not being able to get any clarity from the person' for whom they were romantically involved."

"I haven't processed enough to, if you'd want to call it love bombing or whatever, but it seems to me I have experienced a version of that," Us quoted Ebbs saying.

The DJ talked about the breakup, recounting "Being told that I'm the love of someone's life, being asked to marry them before the social experiment [of "Big Brother"], being adored throughout behind closed doors, being hurt by what I saw but wanting to work through it and have a conversation and get clarity" before eventually being "further humiliated" when they attended "the live show to show up for my partner and support them in their experience," only to be "dumped" by Siwa at the occasion.

"I was told there are confused feelings," Ebb said of the breakup, "that they realized in the house that I wasn't the person they wanted to spend the foreseeable [future with]," quoted Us.

"Fans are convinced the singer will now embark on a romance with Chris," UK newspaper the Daily Mail detailed.

Hughes framed the relationship as simple friendship, claiming to E! News that "We're just messing around – we're being kids."

Hughes added that "JoJo was like a pure rock to me. She was someone I can have fun with. From a friendship point of view, yeah, of course I love her."

That was essentially the message all over again when Hughes and Siwa went on British talk show "This Morning" to talk about Siwa's breakup and their own bond. The duo dismissed rumors that they are dating.

"It wasn't supposed to happen like that," Siwa said of her breakup with Ebbs, after telling the hosts of the talk show that the way the end of that romance happened "was not a plan or my intention."

Of Ebbs, Siwa said "They weren't going to come, then an hour into the party they attended, one thing lead to another, they asked if I was happy and I said no. The conversation took place there."

Hughes and Siwa had grown so close that at one point it was discovered they had created their own "secret language." In a moment witnessed by fans watching the show's livestream, Siwa confessed to another housemate, "Drag Race" icon Danny Beard, that she had come to the realization that, despite having previously identified as lesbian, she's actually "queer." Cried Siwa: "I'm switching letters!"

"You're queer, bitch!" Beard responded.

"Fuck the L, I'm going to the Q!" Siwa rejoined. "That's what I love about sexuality."

The next day, Siwa spoke more plainly to the camera, suggesting she does not fit entirely comfortably within binary confines of gender.

"I've met a lot of females – love them, don't feel like them. Met a lot of males – love them, definitely not them," the singer confessed in an emotional moment. "Met a lot of people in my life that are nonbinary, and these beautiful nonbinary people are who I feel the most like," Siwa added. However, being nonbinary is "not something I want to say about myself yet," Siwa said.

Recalling her time in the "Big Brother" house and the thought process she went through, Siwa told "This Morning," "I sat with myself and really realized things I was okay with in my life I never should have been okay with. So many things."

The singer went on to add, "I knew as soon as I got out I wanted to fix things and make the changes I needed to make."

Earlier in the "Big Brother" season, Siwa had had multiple run-ins with housemate Mickey Rourke, who demanded to know Siwa's sexuality and then, when the singer responded that she was interested in "girls," declared that in just a few days' time, with him in the picture, she would end up heterosexual. Siwa brushed that aside, telling Rourke, "I can guarantee I'll still be gay and I'll still be in a very happy relationship."

Rourke received a warning about that and other remarks seen as homophobic, and exited the show not long after, following a "threatening" interaction with another contestant.

The breakup led to a dramatic moment during the live broadcast. "JoJo had finished in third place," the Mail recounted, "and while the other contestants were greeted publicly by their loved ones at the side of the stage, no one was there to meet JoJo." Added the Mail: "Kath was reportedly backstage – having refused to reunite with JoJo on camera."

Ebbs has stopped following Siwa on Instagram, the newspaper went on to say.

Gay Twitter, naturally, had some thoughts on the news.
