The Most Popular Governor in America to Face Primary Challenge from Hate Group Leader

In a move nothing short of a political "Hail Mary pass," Scott Lively (whose 2014 campaign for governor of Massachusetts failed to get even one percent of the vote), is throwing his hat in the ring again.

He announced last week that he plans to challenge incumbent Charlie Baker, the most popular governor in the United States, for the Republican nomination.

According to MassLive, Lively, who ran as an independent candidate for governor of the Bay State in 2014, has hurt conservative values and is ruining the GOP with "corrupt patronage and croneyism."

"Somebody needs to stop Charles Baker before he completely destroys the Republican Party and its foundation of principled conservatism that is the only real hope for restoring Massachusetts to its former strength and health," Lively said in a statement. "I think that person is Scott Lively."

Lively will need more than confidence to unseat Baker. According to a Morning Consultant survey of Governor Approval Rankings released in October, with a 69 percent approval rating, Baker is the most popular governor in America.

As reported by EDGE, in 2014, Lively ran for governor of Massachusetts using the campaign slogan, "Principles Before Politics." Lively's message, which promised to defend the unborn, de-fund the "gay agenda," deport illegals, support the second amendment and more, resonated 0.89 percent of the electorate. He even had a catchy little campaign ditty titled "The Rainbow Belongs to God" to stir up his base of homo-hating xenophobic gun nuts.

Lively is the founder and head of Abiding Truth Ministries, which has been designated an anti-LGBTQ hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
